Universal Sign Co is a tight-knit team backed by over a decade in the trade. Every sign is quoted, designed, fabricated and installed in-house — with Toby Marsh at the helm from first call to final install.
Toby Marsh spent 6.5 years at one of New Zealand’s largest signage firms, rotating through every department: wide-format print, CNC routing, 3D fabrication, vinyl application, illumination and installation. That depth across every specialised process in the industry built a standard most signwriters never reach.
In 2020, Toby launched Universal Sign Co with a clear thesis: keep the work in-house, own the quality, and never let a client fall through the cracks between departments. No handoffs to strangers. No gap between the person who designs the sign and the team that installs it.
Five years and hundreds of jobs later, almost every project comes through word of mouth or repeat business. When your name is literally on the truck, every job is personal.

With over ten years in the trade, Toby leads every project from concept through to install — overseeing design, wide-format printing, CNC fabrication, vinyl application and on-site installation. The core work stays in the building.
That means you deal with Toby from the first phone call to final sign-off. No account reps relaying messages, no telephone game between departments. Just a team that’s proud of the work and backs it up.
Toby is your contact from first conversation to final install. No account managers, no handoffs, no miscommunication between departments.
Design, print, fabrication and installation all happen in our Sockburn workshop. Quality control stays under one roof, start to finish.
We work through the entire process with you: marketing strategy, concept development, design, fabrication and installation.
